The Lion of Judah Endowment, or LOJE, is the endowment component of the Lion of Judah Major Gifts program. One creates a LOJE by establishing a fund in the donor's name, which guarantees her annual gift in perpetuity. The Or L'Atid flame attached to the Lion of Judah pin signifies to the Jewish world a woman's commitment to the continuation of Jewish life. She becomes a light unto the future, a keeper of the flame. In Middlesex County, 21 women have endowed their Lion of Judah gift.
Our Crown of Esther donors make an annual pledge of $3600. Their commitment to the Jewish Community is not unlike Queen Esther in the Purim story; global concern for community, ready to do what it takes for the sake of the community , beautiful in character and grace and lives her life with dignity. We currently have 4 members of the Crowns of Esther group.
The Pomegranate has special meaning in Jewish heritage. Jewish sources describe the fruit as having 613 seeds--one for each bone in the body or one for each commandment given to the Jewish people by G-d. For this reason, the fruit symbolizes the union between a physical and spiritual call to action and good deeds.
